The Following steps are how to create and set the APN on a headwind device.
- Go to the Configuration of the device you'd like to add the APN to. (Bear in mind that if there are multiple devices on that config they will all be changed.)
- Go to the Applications tab under the configuration and select the Add button on the top right.
- Look for the APN app in the Application Name search bar and select APN-Config 1.03. No need to change the Actions or Icon finish by clicking Add.
- Go to the Application settings tab and click Add once again top right. Search for com.hmdm.apn and add the following attributes and values:
- Once all attributes, values and comments are added click save at the bottom of the screen.
- Get the client/CRM to press the download button on the right and side of the screen to apply the new settings.
- If the device does any of the following:
- Goes offline and does not have a mobile network connection. Reboot the device and ask CRM if the issue is sorted once the device is back on., else have the CRM connect the device to wifi/mobile hotspot to send the settings again.
- Freezes and become unresponsive. Reboot the device.
- Device shows a mobile connection but is unable to process a IDTech transaction. Have the CRM unlock the device with symbol and exit to the system launcher. One in the system tray have the CRM find the APN Setup Helper app and check that the APN details are what was put into the fields above. If the details are correct have the CRM take the SIM card out and send the SIM number to you to check if it is on Sim Control.
